Hashimoto’s relationship with the Hammond Organ started at an early age. Her first contact with the B3 electromechanical beast was at the age of four, beginning with popular songs and jazz standards.
Before choosing to dedicate herself to jazz she studied classical music for several years. At the age of 18, Hammond Japan offered her a job demonstrating organs and giving lessons as a Hammond-certified instructor.
After many year of performing and recording Atsuko made her official break through on the US scene when her trio [Atsuko Hashimoto, Jeff Hamilton, Houston Person] was invited to perform at the 50th Annual Monterey Jazz Festival in September 2007. The evening at the ‘Night Club’ stage, billed as ‘Hammond B3 Blowout’ featuring Joey DeFrancesco Trio and Atsuko Hashimoto Trio was introduced by Pete Fallico stating that ‘..there ain’t nothing like a Hammond groove folks..’ and later received assurance from the two trio’s that that was the actually the case. The two trios were said to have “blown out the Night Club”.
To date, Atsuko has recorded 5 albums to her name. She has played/collaborated with musicians such as; Jeff Hamilton, Houston Person, Red Holloway, Ron Eschete, Jack McDuff, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Anthony Wilson to name a few.
